Description | Medium-sized round utility basket with flat base and vertical sides; Base and all but the final 3 cm on the sides are woven in alternate rows of plain twining and simple plaiting; Single row of 3-strand twining is located at junction of base and sides and at approx. 3 cm below rim; Final 3 cm of upper sides are woven in plain twining with occasional diagonally twined stitch, producing decorative pattern of diagonal lines; Warp material is cedar bark and weft material throughout basket is cedar roots; Warp rods are bent over at rim and bound under in a false braid; Pair of short cloth loops are sewn with thread on interior of rim opposite each other. | |
