Description Very large and deep round utility basket with round, flat base and vertical sides, woven primarily in alternating rows of plaint twining and simple plaiting, except for single row of 3-strand twining along juncture of base and sides, another at approx. 4.5 cm below rim, and a third one at 0.5 cm below rim; Band of diagonal twining measuring 4.5 cm wide encircles uppermost sides of basket just below rim, and narrow 3-strand braided band outlines the actual rim; Warp and weft material is spruce roots; Basket is completely undecorated except for band of diagonal twining along rim which forms a series of parallel zigzags on the otherwise plain-twined background; Pair of double-strand leather loops are threaded through upper sides of basket near rim.
