Description | Deep round basket with flat base and flaring sides; Base is woven in alternating rows of plain twining and simple plaiting, with single row of 3-strand twining at juncture of base and sides; Sides of basket are woven in plain twining except for single rows of 3-strand twining at 3.5 cm and 11 cm above base and along the rim; Designs are woven of dyed bear grass leaves in a false embroidery technique, and consist of pair of double rectilinear meanders woven of dyed maroon bear grass leaves that encircle mid-section of basket; Angles of the meanders detour around horizontally striped red and yellow trapezoids; Above, below, and in between the meandering bands are 3 pair each of diagonally stacked triangles, with half of each pair being purple and half being maroon. | |
