Description | Miniature deep round basket with flat base and flaring sides, woven entirely in plain twining technique except for single row of 3-strand twining at juncture of base and sides and along rim, and intermittent diagonally twined stitches on upper and lower sides for decorative effect; Warp and weft material is spruce roots; Designs are woven in dyed bear grass leaves in a false embroidery stitch and consist of 2 bands around mid-section, each made up of horizontally positioned "Z" motifs in a dark brown color; Areas above and below these bands include pairs of diagonal lines that are woven of undyed spruce roots in diagonal twining technique. | |
