| Description |
Baby carrier consisting of flat, rectangular backboard and hooped sun shade; Woven in diagonal twining with coil wrapping around rim; Boot laces looped along sides and woven sash belt allow for tying baby into carrier; Designs are in redbud and consist of alternating bands of exposed warps with twined bands, the latter alternating interior and exterior surfaces of split redbud; Carriers of this type are known as receiving cradles and are made before a child's birth and thus are lacking in gender-specific designs on the protective arch; Such cradles would be used for a baby's first three or four months, until he or she outgrew it. |
