Description | Round bowl with flat base and rounded, flaring sides, woven in coiling technique over 3-rod foundation; Warp material is whole peeled willow shoots and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven of black devil's claw and consist of a black circular area at center, from which 6 terraced bars radiate outward diagonally to a checkerboard band around the lower sides; Two 5-point stars (1 inside the other) on side of basket are formed by network of three terraced lines whose uppermost points terminate in black truncated triangles that are pendant from rim; Final rim coil is woven entirely in devil's claw; Overall design is extremely well executed and balanced. | |
