Description |
Pipe bag sewn from single piece of hide; Hide lace attached at mouth to which tin cones and dyed horsehair are affixed; Upper is plain except for lazy stitch beading at mouth, along sides and two hourglass/ diamond figures above beaded panel; Lazy stitch beaded panel design of four "K" motifs in red, blue and yellow and blue and yellow crosses on white background; Reverse panel design of four multicolored rectangles from which vertical lines extend; Dyed quill-wrapped hide slats extend from beaded panel from which plain fringe extends; Collected by American artist Maynard Dixon (1875-1946) prior to 1940. |
