Description Pair of adult-sized moccasins, each made from single piece of tanned hide stitched along outer seam and heel with thread; Second piece of tanned hide forms the cuff; Hide lace threaded at ankle; Forked tongue is separate and also sewn with thread; Row of lazy stitch beading in blue at base of tongue; Painted design down center of vamp consists of 2 parallel orange bands terminating in a blue lineal and triangular motif above toe; Collected by American artist Maynard Dixon (1875-1946) prior to 1940.
