Description Hide sole attached with sinew to upper constructed of single piece of tanned hide; Interior of sole is painted suggesting that it was recycled from a parfleche; Stitched up back with hide lace; Forked tongue is separate and stitched with sinew; Tongue edge beaded in black; Red wool, khaki and blue cloth overlay stitched at cuff and edge beaded in black; Lazy stitch beaded bands of pink and yellow alternating with undecorated hide across vamp and instep; Pink triangles with blue bands at top and bottom from mid shoe to heel; Collected by American artist Maynard Dixon (1875-1946) prior to 1940.
