Description | Rectangular shield carved from single piece of lightweight wood, convex in transverse cross section, with bulging center; Three prongs extend from the top and two from the bottom, the overall form representing a stylized man with upraised arms; Two rows of braided bamboo (?) fiber are located along top and bottom of shield to prevent splitting; Center bulge is hollowed out on reverse to form handle; Exterior of shield is completely blackened. | |
