Description | Single-man kayak made from a single piece of sea mammal skin that is tightly stretched over a wooden frame and sewn together with sinew; Both ends of kayak are identical and are capped with ivory knobs, and bottom edges of both ends are lined with ivory strips to facilitate pulling kayak onto icy shore; Black seal skin skirt surrounds the single cockpit; Miniature double oar and 3 harpoon spears (all of wood and ivory, or of wood, ivory and seal skin) along with four other small ivory tools (including knife with tin blade) are lashed to deck of kayak. | |
