Description | 3-dimensional carved figurine in standing position, representing Mongwu (Great Horned Owl Katsina) a warrior who disciplines the clowns if their behavior becomes too outrageous; Owl's brown body has white spots on his chest and back and along both arms and legs; He wears painted brown moccasins with real leather cuffs, commercial leather dance kilt with painted designs, leather bandolier, blue felt arm bands, and black yarn garters and wristlet; Case mask is painted gray with feathered pattern and has yellow eyes and beak and brown fur neck ruff; Several dyed multi-colored feathers are glued to top of mask. | |
