Description | Miniature round basket with flat base and slightly flared sides, along with corresponding round domed lid with inside lip that fits inside basket; Warp material is cedar bark; Start of basket on base is woven in simple plaiting technique, using cedar bark for both the warp and weft; Outer portion of base and entire sides of basket and top of lid are woven in wrapped twining technique, using bear grass leaves as the weft; Lip on interior of lid appears to be woven in plain twining technique, using bear grass leaves as the weft with a single cedar bark slat threaded in and out of the warps for additional structural support; Designs are woven of dyed bear grass leaves and include a narrow green band framed above and below by a dashed brown band around the mid-section of the basket; Design on lid includes concentric bands in pale green, red, yellow, and brown on top of lid. | |
