Description Small round basket with flat base, flaring sides, and recessed rim, along with a round, slightly domed, and probably mismatched lid with low sides that fit over the basket's rim; Warp material in both the basket and lid is grass stems; Entire basket and lid are woven in wrapped twining technique, using bear grass leaves as the weft; Single cedar bark slat encircles top of basket, over which the warps are bent and bound into the final row of twining; Weaving above rim slat is done in plain twining, using grass stems as the weft; All designs are woven of dyed bear grass leaves and include wide band around mid-section of basket that contains elongated diagonal zigzags in alternate colors of yellow and dark blue, between narrow green framing lines; Designs on lid include large dark blue circle with serrated outer edges in center of lid, encircled by composite yellow and orange band on top of lid and composite yellow and dark blue band along rim; Designs and colors of lid do not match those of basket, suggesting the two were not woven as matching pieces.
