Description | Deep round and very wide basket with flat base and sides that rise vertically to mid-height then flare outward slightly to a very wide mouth; Basket is woven in coiled technique over a bundle foundation; Warp material is split cattail stems and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven of black devil's claw pods and include solid black round motif in center of base and solid black line around perimeter of base; Design on sides consists of 6 columns of 4 open terraced diamonds stacked vertically, extending from juncture of base and side all the way to rim; Final rim coil is decorated with diagonal overstitch of black devil's claw. | |
