Description | Deep round basket with flat base and lightly flaring sides, woven in coiled technique over a bundle foundation; Warp material is split cattail stems and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Pair of small coil-wrapped loop handles are attached at rim; Designs are woven of black devil's claw pods and include a small solid black round motif in center of base, enclosed within an open 4-arm cross shape; Complex rectilinear meander pattern comprising 5 parallel lines, including both horizontal and diagonal segments, encircles the sides of the basket; Final rim coil is woven entirely of black devil's claw pods. | |
