Description | Round coiled basket with flat base and flaring sides, woven in coiled technique over bundle foundation; Warp material is rye grass stems and weft material is rye grass leaves; Next to last coil is coil-wrapped and encircles basket in openwork zigzag fashion, fastened to the preceding coil and the final rim coil at each angled point; Design around upper sides of basket consists of terraced zigzag pattern and crosses formed by short lengths of sea mammal intestine (possibly dyed red) and natural black sea mammal skin woven in imbrication technique. | |
