| Description | Mold impressed hollow clay whistle in the form of an owl with incised feathers on chest and back; Back is painted dark brown and chest and underside is painted tan; Eyeballs are painted gold with turquoise green eyes; Round hole on owl’s back and narrow horizontal slit extending in from tail and connecting to round hole allows for blowing the whistle; Possible artist’s hallmark in Japanese script was included in mold and is located on owl’s chest, just below the beak. | |
