| Description | Small barrel-shaped clay jar with an embossed image of a squid appliquéd to the side and a small actual squid perched atop rim; Squid is decorated with pair of turquoise-colored eyes made from beads and white painted eyebrows; A piece of white ribbon is wrapped around the squid’s head; Squid holds a miniature pencil among its arms; Extensive Japanese writing is incised on the side of the jar; length of commercial multi-plied orange cordage is tied around jar’s rim.
