Modern style, commercially made doll showing young standing woman lavishly dressed in black and gold kimono made of commercial fabric; Papier mâché head has painted facial features and painted hair that is upswept to the top of the head and wrapped with a gold cord; Small wooden plaque in front of the doll is imprinted with Japanese text; Doll and plaque are mounted on black lacquered wooden platform; Paper label on base probably identifies shop or factory where doll was produced and/or sold. |
