| Description | Three-dimensional carving of a dancer dressed to represent a deer; Figure wears elaborate head mask that extends to the waist and includes wooden antlers and two fringed poles up the back; Dancer carries red and white drum at his waist and is mounted on a wooden base; Figure is predominantly black with accents of blue, orange, gold, green, red and white; Inscription on front of base; The costume upon which this figure is based is very ancient, but this type of toy doll was not made until 1929. | |
