Small barrel-shaped clay jar with an embossed image of a squid appliquéd to the side and a small actual squid perched atop rim; Squid is decorated with pair of turquoise-colored eyes made from beads and white painted eyebrows; A piece of white ribbon is wrapped around the squid’s head; Extensive Japanese writing is incised on the side of the jar; See 1993-0001-0247 for a nearly identical piece made by the same artist. |
