Description Flute made from large-diameter bamboo shaft with wooden carving at distal end in form of human with elaborate head and face (2 projecting horns, bulging eyes, and long pointed chin) holding animal head at front; Figure is painted black with white and red designs on head and face and decorated with on back with feather and grass bundles; Large cowrie shells set into eyes; Woven basketry plaque at proximal end of flute is decorated with cassowary feathers.
