Description Small round basket with flat base and deep slightly flaring sides, woven in coiling technique over cedar splints; Warp material is split cedar splints and primary weft material is peeled and split cedar roots; Flat base is woven separately and then sewn to first coil which forms short pedestal lip; Sides are built up with individual overlapping splints rather than a single spiral splint; Designs are woven of natural (red) and dyed (black) cherry bark and natural (tan) bear grass leaves in imbrication technique and consist of wide terraced zigzag that encircles sides of basket and is composed of parallel bands of natural and dyed cherry bark and natural bear grass; 4 small terraced triangles woven in natural red cherry bark are pendant from rim; Rim is finished in running diagonal cedar root stitch over underlying red cherry bark.
