Composite fishing lure and hook with elongated shank is cut from single piece of pearl oyster shell; J-shaped hook of abalone (?) shell is tied to distal end of shank with cotton string; Length of heavier plied string is tied around base of hook, extends along shank and is then tied to proximal end of shank, with remaining length of string extended to allow for tying lure onto fishing line. |
