Description Dagger fashioned from longitudinal section of long bone which has been split and roughly ground to a point at distal end; Proximal end is completely encased in reddish brown clay sculpted in form of human face with pronounced nose, incised mouth, and eyes inset with cowrie shells; geometric designs are painted on face in black and white pigments; Face is edged in row of snail shells embedded in clay; Lengths of 2-ply native cordage are threaded through ears and nose; Row of cassowary feather bundles are stuck into top of effigy head.
