Description |
Hand-wrought iron key hammered from a single piece of steel; Shaft of key is rectangular in cross-section and tapers gradually toward its midsection, where it has been hammered flat in a plane perpendicular to the shaft; Several angular sections have been cut out from the flat portion to form the piece that fits into the lock; The dorsal face of the flat portion is decorated with large overlapping leaf-like motifs that were likely scratched or engraved; The edges of the flat portion are shallowly notched; This key is very similar in overall design to CAS 1999-0005-0010. |
