Description | Oval basket with flat base and flaring sides, woven entirely in coiled technique; Warp foundation is split cedar root bundles and weft fibers are split cedar roots; Rim coil is scalloped for decorative effect; Decorative design on exterior sides is woven in imbrication technique of natural and dyed (black) bear grass; Design consists of checkerboard zigzag line that encircles lower half of basket and 4 segments from the lower half of a second similar line that are pendant from the rim. | |
