Description | Storm pattern rug woven entirely in plain tapestry weave of hand spun wool warp and hand spun natural (white), carded (gray-tan), and aniline-dyed (red, dark brown, and natural black-brown over-dyed with black) wefts; Design consists of large central white rectangle with zigzag lines extending out to smaller concentric rectangles (red, brown, and white) in each corner; Similar motif in red and black fills central white rectangle; Various geometric motifs including elaborate waterbugs in white, black, red, and dark brown fill remaining spaces, all on carded gray background; Double wavy-line border in red and black frames all four sides of rug. | |
