Description Storm pattern rug woven entirely in plain tapestry weave of hand spun wool warps and hand spun natural (white), carded (gray), and aniline-dyed (red and dark brown) wefts; Design consists of central white rectangle with white zigzag lines extending to smaller open rectangles containing terraced "X" in each corner; Various geometric motifs, including large stylized waterbugs in white, dark brown, and red, all on gray background fill remaining spaces; Dark brown border with inner zigzag edge frames all four sides of rug; narrow white inner border shares reciprocating terraced edge with gray background.
