Description | Storm pattern rug woven in plain tapestry weave of hand spun wool warp and hand spun natural (white), carded (gray), and aniline-dyed (red, dark brown, and and black over-dyed on natural black-brown) wefts; Design consists of central red and black "X" within black rectangle, superimposed on white rectangle; White zigzag lines extend out to concentric rectangles (red, black, and white) near each corner; Various geometric motifs including red, black, and white waterbugs and brown and white whirling logs fill remaining spaces, all on gray background; Triple border on all four sides of rug include brown and white zigzag borders, and outer black border; rug is woven without side selvages. | |
