Description | Large rectangular mat woven in two pieces and then woven together down center; Each half of mat is woven in plaiting technique (3/1) with an all-over network pattern of large open diamonds; At either end the warp and weft fibers are folded over and woven back into mat, while along the sides they extend out as long fringe; Line of small holes is also woven into mat along each end by changing direction of several fibers; Mats of this type are worn as traditional clothing or used as a form of money or exchange. | |
