Description Small deep round basket with rounded base and flaring sides; Base of basket is woven in plain twining technique in its center and then in alternate rows of plaint twining and simple plaiting; Sides of basket are woven entirely in plain twining technique, except for a single row of 3-strand twining at the junction of the base and sides and another forming the final row of twining along the rim; Warp and weft material is spruce roots; Designs are woven in false embroidery technique, using dyed bear grass leaves, and consist of a band that encircles the mid-section of the basket and contains 4 bands of narrow parallelograms that are stacked diagonally, and whose present color is various shades of brown, but were probably originally green and red; Above and below the main design band is a single row woven in plain twining, in which one of the weft fibers is dyed green spruce root, resulting in a dashed line.
