Description | Limited edition print entitled "The Delight Makers" showing 4 Koyala clowns performing antics on rooftop and on ladder to the amusement of Hopi village residents watching from adjacent rooftops; Seated below the ladder are several Hopi women and Kachin' manas, and to the left of the scene is a line of Katoch Angak'china (Barefoot Long-haired katsina) dancers, who appear during summer to summon gentle rains; "A/P" [Artist's Proof] and "Fred Kabotie" are written in pencil in lower left and right of white margins, respectively; This print was issued in limited edition of 500 signed and numbered copies by the Tucson Festival Society in 1976, when the Society selected Fred Kabotie as its Festival Artist of the Year; Original painting "The Delight Makers" was originally owned by Ruth and Charles Elkus, who subsequently donated it to the Museum of the American Indian, Heye Foundation (now the National Museum of the American Indian, Smithsonian Institution). | |
