Description | Carved 2-dimensional cradle-form katsina representing Palhik Mana (Butterfly Katsina Maiden), depicted with a flat body dressed in white dress with yellow and green shawl draped across shoulders and stylized arms held close at waist; Face is painted white with characteristic triangular hachured designs on cheeks and rainbow stripes on chin; Small abalone shell rectangle is attached to center of forehead, flanked on either side by small feather; Terraced tableta surrounds head and is painted half green and half yellow with geometric shapes on each section, and decorated with a feather at each side and top. | |
