| Description | Spoon or ladle carved as two separate pieces which are fastened together with 3 small copper rivets; Elongated, bowl-shaped portion of spoon has been steamed and carved to shape and is translucent with dark brown striations; Elongated, tapered, and curved handle is carved from the hollowed distal end of a black horn and shows two faces, one atop the other; The lower face appears more human-like than the upper one and has large eyes and a human nose, while the upper face has large eyes, an indeterminate nose and a very wide row of teeth. | |
