Description A: Commercially produced white porcelain mug with straight sides and single loop handle on side, imprinted on side with scene of Eskimo dog sledder and his dog team approaching their village in the background; Artist's signature "Ahgupuk" is imprinted in lower right corner of scene, and word "Alaska" is imprinted on opposite side of mug; Manufacturer's hallmark consisting of a British flag and the word "DURABILITY" across it, along with "WEATHERBY HANLEY ENGLAND ROYAL FALCONWARE" is imprinted in gold-colored ink on base; B: Companion white porcelain saucer imprinted with "Alaska" along its rim and with the same hallmark on the base imprinted in green ink, and with the additional notation, "1-70." [The firm of John Henry Weatherby & Sons was founded in 1891 in Tunstall and relocated the following year to Hanley in Staffordshire, England. The trademark name "Falconware" was adopted around 1925. The firm ceased operations in 2000.]
