Description | Tempera painting on heavy ivory-colored paper, entitled "Antelope Dance", depicting two male dancers, each shown in full left profile, and each dressed identically with their faces painted black and wearing yellow shirt and yellow buckskin cape, white leggings, yellow moccasins, and white hood with pair of antelope horns and a feather headband; Each figure is leaning forward on a cane, and both are painted against an empty background; Possible signature "Senefre Herrera Tesuque Pueblo" is printed in pencil on reverse; Also written on reverse (but in a different hand) is "Santa Fe Indian School Indian Foundation 1938 Antelope Dance." | |
