Description Tempera painting on heavy ivory-colored paper, entitled "Buffalo Dance", showing a single male dancer in left profile, wearing a black and white dance kilt, red sash belt, black and white moccasins, and a buffalo headdress with a fan of eagle feathers tied to its back; Dancer carries gourd rattle in his right hand and a painted deer antler in his left hand; Dancer moves along yellow, orange, and red base line but is otherwise depicted against an empty background; Signature "Pat Swazo" is printed in lower right corner; Written in pencil on reverse (in same hand as notations on CAS 2004-0005-0002) is the following, "Buffalo Dance Indian Foundation Tulsa 1938 from Santa Fe Indian School."
