Description Carving in the form of a bird perched on a wooden stand, all carved from a single piece of wood; Bird has small head and is shown with its wings folded under; Entire carving is painted with a rust-brown pigment, and then designs are shallowly carved on its surfaces to reveal the underlying light color of the wood; The outline of a turtle is carved on the bird's chest and painted black, while a row of three birds with long necks and long beaks with white heads and black bodies and a snake with white dots on its body are carved on the bird's back against a background of hachure lines.
