Description Ladle-shaped paddle for stirring sago palm meal, carved from single piece of wood; Paddle consists of elongated oval-shaped spoon bowl with flat, open distal end and low sides along other three sides, attached to long handle carved in the form of a crocodile (?) head that is grasping the spoon's bowl in its mouth, while the proximal end of handle is in the form of the head of a bird with a long down-turned beak that is also holding something in its mouth: Designs are shallowly incised on both heads, with traces of white lime in some of them; Entire paddle has been sanded smooth and stained a dark brown.
