Description | Round brimless hat with conical dome, whose exterior is woven of extremely finely split and plaited light and dark cane (?) splints, forming a subtle, all-over swirling pattern; Dome was probably originally surmounted by red wool yarn pompom; Interior is lined with single layer of coiled cane rods, some of which are wrapped in red, yellow, or blue (faded to gray) wool yarns, forming concentric bands in these colors; Separately woven headrest ring of dyed (red and black) splints is attached to interior. | |
