| Description | Round brimless hat with rounded crown; Exterior is assembled from six triangular pieces of finely woven black silk fabric, each one lined on interior with coral colored cotton fabric; The six pieces are stitched together so their points come together at the hat’s peak, which is decorated with a red silk braided knot; Rim of hat is encircled by two black silk bands; Hat is somewhat stiff, suggesting there may be an underlying of paper or lightweight cardboard between interior and the layers of fabric; Maker’s mark (?) is stamped inside in Chinese characters. | |
