| Description | Two pair of wooden chopsticks (B and D; individual chopsticks are not separated), each inside a folded paper carrying case (A and C) with a leaf print on the outside; Also attached to the front of each carrying case is a small doll with a body made from a toothpick and dressed in an elaborate kimono and obi made from folded paper; The two kimonos are worn in a different manner and the dolls’ hairstyles also differ from one another; Dolls of this type are especially popular around the time of Hina Matsuri, observed on March 3 and sometimes referred to as Girls Day, although its history and traditions are much more complex. | |
