Description | Miniature pen and ink portrait of a man on white paper, possibly representing the artist, himself; Subject is shown in a full frontal pose from mid-torso and up, although shoulders or arms are not shown; He is dressed in a high collared shirt or jacket with a fringed edge, and with hair that is somewhat disheveled; In a series of letters written by the artist while confined to a hospital to donor’s grandmother, the artist mentions his frustration at seemingly having lost his ability to draw portraits and he also mentions his intention of sending the donor’s grandmother some self portraits, but it is not certain if this particular image is the one referred to in his letter(s), which are housed in the CAS Archives; Drawing is signed “Robert Mayokok†in lower right corner. | |
