Burntwater Navajo-style rug, woven entirely in tapestry weave; Central design consists of a single series of concentric terraced diamonds in colors of medium and deep gold, white, dark brown, olive green, rose-tinged brown, and pale gray-green, all on medium gold background; Design field is framed on all four sides by double straightened edged borders in deep gold and white, and then by dark brown border of contiguous terraced triangles and plain deep gold outermost border; Twining and selvage cords are woven in contrasting medium brown wool yarns; This rug design is probably based, in part, on a rug by Maggie Price published in Arizona Highways magazine (July 1974, p. 15, #WE-21). |
