Description Extremely finely woven Two Grey Hills Navajo-style rug, woven in tapestry weave, with central design of single series of concentric terraced diamonds in medium and light brown, outlined in black, all on light gray background; Central design is surrounded by filler motifs in the form of depictions of the “Mitten” formations in Monument Valley; The central gray panel is framed along the top and bottom edges by a very narrow straight-edged white line, and the entire rug is framed by a pictorial border of additional representations of the “Mittens”, woven in medium brown and outlined in white, all on a black background; White “spirit line” is located in upper right corner; NOTE: This rug was designed by Tony Shuffrey after seeing a rug at Hogback Trading Post with a border that reminded him of the Monument Valley “Mittens”; That particular rug was replicated as CAS 2007-0001-0033.
