Description 1st-Phase Navajo-style Chief’s blanket, woven in tapestry weave, with an overall pattern of alternating plain white and natural dark brown/black bands; Three exceptions to the design are the top and bottom bands, both of which are natural dark brown/black but which also contain two narrower dark blue bands, and the middle band which is the width of approx. three of the other bands and which contains four of the dark blue bands on the natural dark brown/black background; Twining and selvage cords are woven of matching and contrasting dark blue yarns, respectively.
