Hafted adze consisting of a elongated stone that has been ground smooth overall and thinned and ground to a fine, rounded cutting edge on its distal end; Proximal end is hafted to a wooden handle that has been cut from a tree branch and includes a V-notch, with the branch itself serving as the adze handle and the portion above the V-notch (from the trunk of the tree) serving as the support for the adze blade, which is positioned against the wood and additional splints are laid on the opposite face of the blade, and all are then wrapped and secured together with one or more long thin strips of rattan; Color of blade is dark gray. |
