Description |
Hand carved comb used by a weaver to pack the weft yarns down tightly while weaving a Navajo rug; Comb is carved from single piece of cedar wood, flattened in cross-section; Seven parallel cuts are sawed into squared off distal end to form 9 teeth of equal size; Lateral edges of comb gradually taper toward proximal end toward a point, which is also used to pack the weft yarns into place; All surfaces of the comb are sanded very smooth. |
